Speed to Value is deeply rooted in eXtreme Programming (XP) practices and the Agile Methodology.  The revolutionary thinking offered in these approaches, including Value Focused Deliverables, Test-Driven Development, Short Iterations & Releases, Continuous Integration, Collective Ownership, Simple Design, Responsiveness to Change and Customer Collaboration, are all fundamental practices within Speed 2 Value (S2V).

But Speed 2 Value (S2V) goes a step further to address a number of areas where XP and Agile are sorely lacking.

For example, XP and Agile claim the benefits of customer collaboration, but lack the tools and defined skills to make this complex dance recurrently successful.  With the help of our delighted customers, Pillar has fine-tuned our approach and tools by being realistic about collaboration.  We are able to manage the early-and-often delivery of highly complex enterprise systems with requirements across multiple business units.  And we do it with an industry leading success rate.

Another problem with XP and Agile is that they don’t address the problem of cultural conflicts with new systems.  The most costly systems are those that are completed but never used because of cultural issues.
