An interactive S2V Engagement Chartering Workshop can ensure clear direction and a well-defined scope for each project. Conducted over one or two days, the workshop shares information about S2V, engages both the business and IT communities in the co-development of sample project deliverables and a project schedule, and builds consensus about common business goals.

Chartering Workshop Schedule:
  1. Welcome and Introductions (30 minutes)
  2. Project Overview (45 minutes)
    • Business objective – measurable (often financial) goal
    • Business issue – barriers to the objective
    • Problem – what prevents business issues from being resolved
    • Value – business value accrued by solving problem
    • Solution – people, process, and technology needed to realize the business value
  3. Speed to Value (S2V) Overview (45 minutes)
    • The business problem we solve
    • Plan and Define phase – goals, roles, iterative process, correlation to ESDM
    • Build phase – goals, roles, iterative process
    • Introduction to the drivers of business value and workshop process
  4. Value Prompter (1-2 hours)
    • Enterprise Value Model – cause and effect influences of the business objective
    • Value Story Inventory – candidate Value Stories (time permitting, we will identify some client value model candidates, allowing for validation during the client presentation)
  5. Business Process and Technology Prompter (1-2 hours)
    • Current Reality Model – cause and effect influences of the business issue and what prevents the issues from being resolved
    • User Story Inventory – candidate User Stories
  6. Delivery Process Prompter (1-2 hours)
    • Current Reality Model – cause and effect influences on the Delivery Process and what prevents the issues from being resolved
    • Technology Story Inventory – candidate Technology Stories
  7. Structure, People & Culture Prompter (1-2 housr)
    • Current Reality Model – cause and effect influences on Structure, People & Culture and what prevents the issues from being resolved
    • Enterprise Story Inventory – candidate Enterprise Stories
    • Team/People Chart – project community by role, individual, and organization

Existing documents such as organization charts, project charters and communication plans, business requirements, architecture plans, technology requirements, and project plans.

At the end of the workshop, the project team will be equipped with:

    • Brief narrative of the business objectives and challenges
    • Sample Enterprise Value Model
    • Candidate Value Stories
    • Candidate User Stories
    • Candidate Technology Stories (project-focused, if any)
  2. Enterprise Value Vision Document
    • Brief narrative of the Organizational objectives and challenges including Delivery Process objectives and challenges
